What is medication-assisted treatment?
Medication-assisted treatment (MAT) is the use of FDA-approved medications, combined with counseling and therapy, to treat alcohol and opioid use disorders. The medications ease withdrawal, reduce cravings, and help prevent relapse, so you can focus on recovery instead of fighting your body.
At Regain Hope Detox and Recovery Center, MAT isn't a standalone clinic visit. It's prescribed and administered by the physicians who own and run the program, as part of your detox and residential care.

Medication that lets you focus on living
When cravings are quieted, recovery stops being a daily battle with your own body, and you get the room to rebuild work, relationships, and routine.
- Non-narcotic, non-addictive options
- Long-acting relapse protection
- Prescribed & monitored by physicians
What MAT treats
Alcohol use disorder
Medications reduce cravings and support lasting sobriety.
Opioid use disorder
Medications ease withdrawal and block the effects of opioids.
Often treated alongside co-occurring mental health conditions.
Medications used in MAT
Vivitrol® (naltrexone)
Our lead option for alcohol and opioid use, a once-monthly, non-narcotic injection that blocks cravings without creating dependence.
Oral naltrexone
A daily, non-narcotic alternative for craving and relapse protection.
Other FDA-approved medications
Additional options prescribed when clinically appropriate, always under physician supervision.
Regain Hope Detox and Recovery Center is not a methadone clinic or opioid treatment program. There is no methadone maintenance. MAT here is physician-administered within detox and residential care.
Relapse protection that starts before discharge
Pills are easy to forget once you're home. We start your long-acting medication, like a monthly Vivitrol injection, before you leave our care, so your protection doesn't depend on a daily decision.
The usual handoff
- A prescription to fill on your own
- A daily pill that’s easy to skip or forget
- Protection that lapses the moment motivation dips
Regain Hope Detox and Recovery Center
- A long-acting injection started before discharge
- Weeks of craving protection, automatically
- A plan built so sobriety doesn’t hinge on willpower
The day you leave
Your monthly injection is already working, there’s no gap between care and home.
Two weeks home, a craving hits
The medication is still quietly blocking it, no pill to have remembered.
A missed appointment
Because it’s long-acting, one off day doesn’t undo your protection.
The benefits of medication-assisted treatment
Eases withdrawal & cravings
Medication quiets the physical pull so you can focus on recovery.
Lowers relapse & overdose risk
Long-acting protection that keeps working between doses.
Non-narcotic options
Naltrexone-based medications don't trade one dependence for another.
Frees you for therapy
With cravings managed, you can do the real work of recovery.
Physician-prescribed & monitored
Managed by doctors who know your full medical history.
Is MAT just replacing one drug with another?
No, not the way we practice it. Our lead medications are naltrexone-based (including Vivitrol), which are non-narcotic and non-addictive. They don't produce a high or create dependence, they simply block cravings and the effects of alcohol and opioids so your brain can heal. MAT is evidence-based medicine, not a moral compromise.
